Runaway June To Host Mother’s Day Radio Special, New Single “New Kind of Emotion” Is Top 5 Most Added at U.S. Country Radio

Quartz Hill Records’ ACM-nominated trio, Runaway June, today announced it will host a two-hour radio special, A Nashville Tribute to Moms, available to country stations nationwide for broadcast on Mother’s Day, May 11.

Also featuring other Nashville stars, who will share personal stories about moms and motherhood, the special will include a mix of Mother’s Day-themed songs and current country hits.

A Nashville Tribute to Moms will be available for radio stations to preview via distribution partners CDX Nashville and Play MPE beginning April 21. The special will be delivered barter and commercial free, allowing stations to insert 10 minutes of local content for each of its two hours. Quartz Hill Records’ previous radio specials, Joe Nichols’ Honky Tonk Holidays™, were aired by more than 500 U.S. country stations this past Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Runaway June’s radio special was inspired by the trio’s new feel-good single, “New Kind of Emotion,” which catapulted out of the gate yesterday (April 14) as a Top 5 Most Added Song at U.S. country radio (Mediabase) upon the single’s official impact date.

Produced by two-time GRAMMY winner Kristian Bush (Sugarland, Megan Moroney), “New Kind of Emotion” was penned by Runaway June (Jennifer WayneNatalie Stovall and Stevie Woodward) alongside Paul Sikes (Lainey Wilson’s MusicRow No. 1 “Hang Tight Honey”). The exhilarating mid-tempo country-pop track spotlights Runaway June’s trademark three-part harmonies and captures the emotional rush of new love in all its forms – from romantic to maternal.

“We were talking about that feeling you get when you experience any kind of new love,” explains Natalie. “And it doesn’t just have to be romantic love. Of course, a lot of us were thinking of our romantic partners, but Jen was also thinking about her daughter, and I was probably thinking about my dog. I know Stevie was thinking about her cat!”

“‘New Kind of Emotion’ makes me think of my little girl and the wonderful feeling of becoming a mother, but I love that the song means different things to different people,” says Jennifer. “We originally planned to send a different song to radio, but the love this tune was getting from fans and from the industry became undeniable.”

“We’re so excited that ‘New Kind of Emotion’ is our next radio single, and we couldn’t be prouder that we get to honor our own amazing moms – and all moms – in our first radio special,” adds Stevie. “We’ve got some great artists and music lined up, and we hope it’ll help the moms have a very happy Mother’s Day.”

A Nashville Tribute to Moms marks Runaway June’s first time hosting a radio special, but the ladies are no stranger to radio, with their 2019 Gold-certified breakthrough smash, “Buy My Own Drinks,” making them the first female trio to crack the Top 5 at U.S. country radio (Mediabase) since The Chicks in 2003. Runaway June has since surpassed 311 million total streams and amassed nearly half a million social media followers. The trio was recently named among FeedSpot’s “Top 100 Country Music Influencers in 2025” based on following, engagement and overall influence in the country music space.

Runaway June’s performance schedule in the lead-up to Mother’s Day includes a Grand Ole Opry show tonight (April 15), a Nashville Predators home game tomorrow (April 16), and multiple tour dates in North Carolina in early May.
