The Castellows Release New EP, ‘Homecoming’

Country music sister-trio The Castellows have released their new EP, Homecoming. The deeply personal project by Billboard’s Country Rookie of the Month captures the emotions and convictions they have felt over the past year through introspective storytelling, layered harmonies, and a distinctive neo-traditional Country sound.

“One thing we love about releasing music is that it feels like a little time capsule,” The Castellows shared. “It’s cool to put out songs and projects like this because we can look back on them and think of where we were when we wrote these songs, how we were feeling, and what we were experiencing on the road and with each other and life. As artists, it’s a beautiful thing to be able to do that.”

These stories and experiences unfold through the project’s seven tracks–illustrating the nostalgia of their upbringing on a farm in Georgia, the adventures of life on the road as touring musicians, and the joy of returning home after time away. “We take our listeners on a bit of a journey through these songs, and our hope is that they’ll get to know us better after listening,” The Castellows said.

They hope that listeners will find pieces of themselves in the music, too. “One way to sum up the EP is through our favorite lyric on the whole project. It’s from the chorus of ‘Freeway’: ‘You don’t know what you’re feeling until you hear it in a song.’ We want these songs to be ones that people listen to and learn more about themselves and feel things they haven’t felt.”

Complete with their take on Patty Loveless’s “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am” and a collaboration with Flatland Cavalry on “Place They Call Home,” Homecoming continues to solidify the Neotraditional trio’s niche of braiding together the old and the new.  Entertainment Focus called the project, “A rich, rootsy collection that threads nostalgia, rural life and the search for identity through seven beautiful crafted tracks…creating a sound that’s both timeless and refreshingly current.”
