Ole 60’s “Smoke & A Light” Goes Platinum

Kentucky’s independent six-piece Ole 60 is soaring to new heights, earning RIAA Platinum-certification on their breakout single “smoke & a light.”

“It’s surreal – we haven’t been doing this even 18 months. Hitting these milestones as an independent band from small town Kentucky is a really cool, crazy thing to experience and celebrate” the band shares collectively. “We have the greatest fans in the world, and this proves it.”

Recently highlighted by Billboard in their 2025 Country Power Players issue on stands now, the outlet called out “the act’s musical instincts for blending country-folk storytelling with melodic rock instrumentation,” and how “the Kentucky group broke through last year with its angst-fueled, rock-tilted” style.

This past weekend, Ole 60 stunned a packed-out Railbird Music Festival in their home state, with The Lexington Herald-Leader recognizing their set as one of the festival’s best: “There wasn’t a bigger crowd at The Burl stage all weekend than there was on Sunday afternoon for Hawesville-based country rock band Ole 60, who smashed beers from the stage while the crowd sang back every word of songs like ‘Dust 2 Dust’ and ‘Smoke & a Light’ to them.”

Railbird was the first festival that front man and lead singer Jacob Ty Young ever attended, making the homecoming that much more special.

“Always something so special about coming back to Kentucky,” the band shared via social media yesterday.“The emotions and energy were higher than they’ve ever been. The love we felt all day was indescribable. Lexington, we love you so damn much. Cats by 90.”
