GRAMMY-nominated duo SOFI TUKKER have shared their new track, “Pick Up The Phone” – LISTEN HERE. “Pick Up The Phone” dropped today on Global Running Day – a day that celebrates the power of running, held annually on the first Wednesday of June. For the occasion, SOFI TUKKER partnered with Brooks to convert the energy of runners across the globe into this new track – made by runners, for runners – to keep the energy cycle going.
In February, Brooks called on runners to be part of a new song built from the beat of their footsteps. Runners from across the world submitted videos of themselves while also capturing the audio of their runsteps. SOFI TUKKER then used the audio samples when creating the track.
SOFI TUKKER is comprised of Tucker Halpern and Sophie Hawley-Weld. Sophie is an avid runner and explains, “Running is one of the only times I’m not attached to my phone, and really feeling in the present moment with my breath and with music… the other time I feel that way is on the dance floor. That feeling of presence and freedom is what this song is all about. You’ll hear footsteps in the song inspired by and taken from runners around the world. Love this campaign and celebrating my love of running with Brooks!!”
The collaboration also includes a music video featuring clips from the runners who shared their footsteps, and spotlighting Sophie on the run. Watch it on YouTube.
“Pick Up The Phone” comes on the heels of SOFI TUKKER’S latest album butter –LISTEN HERE. FORBES calls butter, “a gorgeous, sophisticated, elegant collection” and KCRW featured “Bread (butter version)” with Seu Jorge as their Top Tune yesterday. The album celebrates the band’s deep love of Brazilian music and culture, and is a jazz-infused, alter-ego companion to their acclaimed 2024 album BREAD. SOFI TUKKER will play a special “butter” set at the iconic Newport Jazz Festival on August 1st.
