Wyatt McCubbin has released 650, his debut album through Dave Cobb’s Lucille Records/MCA. The 10-song collection arrived October 16, moving a longtime Nashville songwriter into the center of his own recording project.
Produced by Cobb and recorded live to tape at Thunderbolt Studios in Savannah, Georgia, the album connects McCubbin’s Ohio upbringing with the family life and songwriting career he has built in Nashville.
Family stories at the heart of “650”
The title nods to country radio and WSM’s 650 AM signal. Across the record, that connection to inherited musical traditions becomes a way to tell stories about McCubbin’s own life.
“Boy In The Boat,” written with Erik Dylan, was inspired by his young son, Autry, and has an accompanying lyric video. “Fly Baby Fly” was written for his daughter, Dove. McCubbin’s wife, Holly, provides harmony vocals across the album.
Other tracks include “Andy Griffith,” “All Outta You,” “Mr. Neon,” “Gunsmoke,” “Breaker Breaker,” “Whiskey Colored Crayon” and “12/9/23.” Marty Stuart co-wrote “I Love You,” one of the songs introduced ahead of the full release.
Opry appearance and Luke Combs support dates
McCubbin’s release-week schedule includes an October 16 hometown performance at The Grainery in Plain City, Ohio, followed by the Grand Ole Opry on October 18.
The announcement also lists 12 support dates on Luke Combs’ 2027 My Kinda Saturday Night Tour. Among them is April 17 at Ford Field in Detroit, giving Michigan listeners a chance to hear the new material in a stadium setting.
