Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Rhett Akins will officially become a member of the Grand Ole Opry on his birthday, Tuesday, October 13. Akins was surprised with an invitation in June by his friend and Opry member Jon Pardi, whose second career No. 1 and one of his biggest hits to date, “Dirt On My Boots,” was written by Akins.
The ACM Songwriter of the Decade, writer of 36 No. 1 country hits, will be joined that night by friends and artists he has written hits for including his son Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan as well as Opry members Jon Pardi, Jamey Johnson and more.
